[se2009.eu] On Thursday 5 November, Swedish Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy Tobias Billström and EU Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security Jacques Barrot will meet, among others, the Turkish ministers of interior and justice in Ankara to discuss cooperation between the EU and Turkey on migration issues.
The issues on the meetings‘ agendas include asylum and protection, return, migration issues in the Mediterranean region and visas. Justice and home affairs issues in the context of Turkey’s EU accession will also be discussed.
"It is important that the EU and Turkey cooperate more on migration issues. I hope that we will be able to agree on how we can deepen and expand our cooperation, for example, in the area of visas, illegal immigration and readmission of asylum seekers whose applications for asylum have been rejected," says Mr Billström ahead of the visit.
