Bethlehem – Ma'an – The customs office at the Ben Gurion airport announced that a new x-ray machine has been developed for use in the airport which will allow officers to strip-search passengers without having them take their clothes off.
Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv reported on Friday that the new technology will be in use one month from now. It is the first such machine to be used in Israel's ports and airports. When a passenger steps into the rays of the machine, they can be viewed totally naked. Officials say that the machine will be used to uncover hidden drugs, jewelry and or weapons.
Legal Adviser for the Israeli government Mini Mazur said that she will examine the machine and determine in the coming days in order to determine guidelines for its use. Many orthodox Jews have complained that the machine will show them naked in front of strangers, which is forbidden.

Addressing safety concerns the head of the customs office at the Ben Gurion airport Rafi Ghbay said experts have determined that the rays used by the machine are not harmful to humans.
