Albania selects Sagem Sécurité for secure ID documents

Sagem Sécurité (SAFRAN Group) announced today that it has won an international call for tenders from the Albanian Ministry of the Interior to set up a production and distribution concession for electronic passports and identification cards. Sagem Sécurité will supply a complete secure ID document production system, based on its latest-generation Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). The expertise of Sagem Orga and SDU Identification, Sagem Sécurité‘s subsidiaries, will guarantee the reliable and highly secured issuance of ID documents. Citizens of the Republic of Albania will have an identification solution approved by all countries, the European Union and international institutions.
“This contract is an outstanding reference for Sagem Sécurité, and opens up new prospects within the scope of current reforms in Albania,” said Jean-Paul Jainsky, Chairman and CEO of Sagem Sécurité. “It’s an example of Sagem Sécurité cooperation with Sagem Orga and SDU Identification.”
Albania thus joins the other forward-looking countries that are pioneering the use of edocuments for identification purposes. The concession will call on powerful technologies applied to the nation-wide management of databases, and further consolidates Sagem Sécurité’s leadership in the secure ID document market.
