[axisglobe.com] Recurrence of the Latvian script, mass disorders caused by
discontent of the population due to economic situation in the country,
is hardly possible in Estonia, according to the General Director of the
Security Police (KaPo) of Estonia Raivo Aeg, ERR Novosti reports.
"If our politicians will suffice wisdom as it has been before, it is
difficult to believe that social tension can increase in our country up
to such degree that someone will go to destroy buildings of the
government", Aeg marked at a KaPo press conference in Tallinn. He
agreed that economic difficulties create certain level of tension in
the society, however, it is not at all necessary to draw parallels
between Estonia and Latvia, as a situation in these countries is
different. "We did not have collapse of bank sector, as it happened in
Latvia. The neighbours had to make much more essential reduction of the
state budget than we did", explained Aeg.
According to the KaPo chief, it is important that the government in the
present situation explains to the population all essence and
indispensability of acceptance of unpopular decisions. "If the
communication between people and the government has been properly
adjusted and the adopted decisions explained, everyone will understand
that street riots will not improve their economic situation, and, more
likely, even to the contrary, they would make it even worse", he added.
Aeg pointed put that the KaPo have no bases for concern in connection
with the forthcoming anniversary of the so-called Bronze Night. "I
believe that the situation will be calm, the young people who
participated in riots two years ago have had reasonably time that
consider all that happened", the KaPo head noted. Aeg added that
extreme associations under leadership of possible organizers of the
riots, such as the Nochnoy Dozor (Night Patrol) more likely are
marginal and have no large number of supporters. The KaPo head
considers that mass media have considerably exaggerated the
significance of this group of people, EER Novosti notes.
