In march of 2010 in Moscow takes place forum “Libertarian Communism-2010” (more about it in English: http://avtonom.org/en/node/6327). We prepare a seminar there about securitization politic in Russia and European countries. The main issue: We want to collect information about processes occurring in West and East Europe in the filed of police and secret service reforming (in last years).
[by email] For instance, since 2008 in Russia we have Anti-extremist center, which response for control and prosecution of political activists. Also police and secret service from day to day get new powers in civil control. In filed of social discourse it is presents as “the danger of extremism and terrorism” and struggle with it.
The problem is that most of people think that it is just consequence of Putin`s regime and traditions of authoritarism.
I want to show, that same processes taking place in European countries, and it is, actually, new issue of neoliberalism in situation of economical crisis, calls securitization-politic.
Could you probably describe how it is going in Europe (For instance, in any country, where you live):
1) how in last years have been changing this securitization-politic (struggle with extremism, terorrism for example, or secure of the constitution, whatever)?
2) what is new in acting of police and secret service now (how they deal with political and social activists, how they deal in demonstrations etc.). Which new powers they got against activists?
3) what is going on in secret service? Does exist or appear any structure, like Anti-extremist center, how this structure work, which specific laws it is rely on? May be you can give me concrete examples of prosecution of activists by such structure?
4) how changing the tactic and strategy of lebertarian movement in such situation?
I need this info about any european country. May be it ll be also good to publish this question in blog, and everybody, who read this, ll describe situation in his/her country?
I understand, that it is not so easy to answer this question, so I ask you beforehand. If you ll have time, could you probably answer, shortly, but concretely (enough to have full picture of what is happening)?
And if it is difficult for you, could you give me links, where I can get this info (but better in english).
