[statewatch.org] [...] The timetable for a Programme following the Hague Programme is tight. In June 2009, a new European Parliament will be elected. In autumn 2009, the present European Commission will be replaced by a new College. In parallel, the Hague Programme will be coming to an end. Against this background, the proposal for a programme to follow the Hague Programme will be presented by the Commission well in advance of the elections to the European Parliament. This “post-Hague Programme” would have to be adopted by the Council in 2009. For that reason reflections on the future of European Home Affairs have already started within the Future Group. [...]
