UAV Information Workshop – 10 November 2008

[ec.europa.eu] While non-military use of UAV (unmanned aerial
vehicles) seems to be economically attractive, the main investment
in UAV technology is mainly financed through defence projects. In a
study conducted by Frost & Sullivan for the European Commission (DG
ENTR), the global situation is analysed and the challenges and
opportunities for Europe are discussed.

The
findings of this study will be presented at this information
workshop, as well as other relevant European activities.

[1.] EUROSUR should support the Member States
in further improving situational awareness at their external
borders and in increasing the reaction capability of their
law enforcement authorities. For this purpose, EUROSUR should
provide the common technical framework for streamlining the
daily cooperation and communication between Member States‘
authorities and facilitate the use of state-of-the-art technology
for border surveillance purposes. A key operational objective should
be the sharing of information between existing national,
European and international systems in the maritime domain.
