Law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan have begun an investigation into the unauthorized rally in Guba, joint statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan and the General Prosecutor’s Office said on Thursday.

The statement says that today, on March 1, about 1,000 residents at 10:00 a.m. staged protest action in front of the building of the Executive power of Guba in response to some thoughts of head of the executive power of the Guba region Rauf Habibov expressed on November 22, 2011 at the meeting on social issues and which were regarded as disrespect for Guba residents.

Despite the fact that from the first minutes the action was not directed at the violation of the law and order and had the nature of state support, later as a result of incitement by some destructive elements who joined the action, it went from a peaceful course into actions of gross violation of public order, willful destruction of private and state property, use of violence against citizens.
