8th Regional Ministerial Conference on Illegal Migrations, Organised Crime, Corruption and Terrorism

The
Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia, together with the
Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria, is
organising the 8th Regional Ministerial Conference on Illegal
Migrations, Organised Crime, Corruption and Terrorism, which will be
held on 15th and 16th October 2008 at Brdo pri Kranju.

aim of this year’s conference is especially to exchange good practices
in the fight against terrorism and to agree on further police
cooperation in South-Eastern Europe and to review the progress of the
project "South-Eastern Europe Organised Crime Threat Assessment", i.e.
SEE OCTA. The last part of the conference will be devoted to promoting
closer and more harmonised cooperation between the countries in
South-Eastern Europe.

Invited to the conference are interior
ministers of Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria,
Greece, Croatia, Montenegro, Hungary, Italy, Former Yugoslav Republic
of Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Turkey. We have also invited Michele
Alliot–Marie, the French Minister of the Interior and chair of the JHA
Council, Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the European Commission
responsible for Justice, Freedom and Security, Max-Peter Ratzel,
Director of Europol, Dr Theodor H. Winkler, Director of the Geneva
Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), Ivan Bizjak,
EU Director General for Justice and Home Affairs, Gilles de Kerchove,
EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, and Mitja Močnik, Director of the
SECI Center.

 

A press conference will be held on Thursday, 16th October 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Brdo pri Kranju Congress Centre.
